Q&A with David Eaves, Key Account Manager (North)

Posted Tuesday 8th of November 2016

Name:  David Eaves

Job title: Key Account Manager

Time with The Mortgage Lender:  Five months

Why did you want to work at The Mortgage Lender?

Having worked with the majority of the people at Mortgages PLC I couldn’t wait to start working for The Mortgage Lender.  In my opinion the team is the best in the business. We have also added people from outside Mortgages PLC who have enhanced our offering.  I didn’t need to be asked twice.

What has your role involved this week?

This week has been extremely busy.  I had a review meeting with The Finance Centre having had a very productive month with them regarding DIPs and Applications.  From there I went to Cardiff for a round table event hosted by Paradigm where we received very positive feedback regarding our proposition. It was then back home to Manchester before heading up to Scotland for review meetings with two of my Key Accounts as well as several broker appointments, so as you can see it’s been really busy.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

The variety and the people.  No two days are ever the same but each day is exciting and the people I work with, both at The Mortgage Lender and within our Key Accounts, are great people.

What three skills do you have that make you good at your role?

Determination, patience and enthusiasm

How have the people you know in the industry reacted to the launch of The Mortgage Lender?

Extremely positive. Everyone I have met has said there was room in the market for a lender like us with our bespoke criteria and, especially, our rates.

What is the most challenging mortgage case you’ve been involved in during your career, what were the circumstances and how did you achieve a positive outcome for the borrower?

To be honest there have been too many to mention but you always learn from all your experiences.

What piece of career advice has stayed with you and where did it come from?

My first manager at the Newcastle Building Society always told me to stay positive and never give up.  I was 21 at the time (lots of years ago) and it is something I take into every day.
